What a teacher from a follow-on primary school says about Daisy Chain...

The information provided by Daisy Chain has been invaluable during the children's transition to school. The relationship between the school and nursery has ensured that the children are prepared for the changes they are going to encounter when moving on to school.

Parents are asked to provide nappies and wipes for their child whilst at nursery. Each child will be provided with their own labelled box. When nappies/wipes are running low, we will inform parents in advance so they have time to top up.

Snacks are included in the consumables fee. Children will be offered a balanced snack and a drink of milk or water.

We encourage parents to provide children with a balanced lunch that includes foods from each of the food groups. We ask that parents do not include chocolate or high sugar items in their child's packed lunch.

Yes. A consumables fee of £1 per session will be charged above funded hours.

If your child is not going to be attending their booked session, we ask that you contact us within the first hour of the start of the session. If we do not hear from you, we will contact you for clarification of the absence. All sessions must be paid for, regardless of whether the child attends due to staff ratios organised in advance.

Daisy Chain offers places for children aged 9 months to school age.

We will administer medicines at nursery if they have been prescribed by the doctor.

We have a uniform available consisting of polo shirts and sweatshirts. If you wish to purchase one for your child, please speak to your child's key person.

We use an online learning journey system called ‘Tapestry’ to communicate with parents regarding their child's learning. Staff can capture photographs, videos and written observations of children to document their learning and progress. Parents are encouraged to contribute with information from home to build a picture of the child holistically.

All children should bring a bag with a change of clothes and extra layers during the winter months. Wellies are also a good idea for when we are in our garden area as children will have regular access to mud and water. We encourage parents to label items as clearly as possible to ensure that belongings are returned correctly.

For all new starters we offer an hour long stay and play session where children get the chance to play in the room while parents are nearby. This also gives staff the opportunity to talk with parents about children's interests and needs along with a baseline assessment of learning.

Please let us know if you are going to be late collecting your child. Late collections will be charged at £2.50 up to every 15 minutes.
